Apex Trader Funding charges a one-time activation fee to turn a passed evaluation into a live funded account — on current accounts it is not a monthly subscription. For Standard accounts it runs $69–$129 on Intraday Trail and $99–$159 on EOD Trail, scaled by account size. You pay it once, within 7 days of passing — or you can choose the “No Activation Fee” evaluation variant and pay $0 activation in exchange for a higher upfront eval price.

Apex activation fee by account size (2026)
The activation fee depends on two choices: your drawdown type (Intraday Trail or EOD Trail) and your account size. These are the current one-time Standard-variant fees, each paid once when you activate the funded account:
| Account size | Intraday Trail | EOD Trail |
|---|---|---|
| 25K | $69 | $99 |
| 50K | $79 | $129 |
| 100K | $99 | $139 |
| 150K | $129 | $159 |
Is the Apex activation fee monthly or one-time?
On current Apex accounts the activation fee is a single one-time payment, not a recurring subscription. It is charged once, when you activate your Performance Account after passing, and it does not renew. It is non-refundable and non-transferable. This is a change from Apex’s pre-March-2026 model — see legacy accounts below.
When do you pay the Apex activation fee?
You pay it when you activate your funded Performance Account, which must happen within 7 calendar days of passing your evaluation. Your evaluation is marked passed after market close (about 6 PM ET) on the qualifying day. If you do not activate within the 7-day window, the passed account expires permanently and you would have to start a new evaluation.
How to pay a $0 activation fee at Apex
Apex sells a “No Activation Fee” version of every evaluation that sets the activation fee to $0. In exchange, the one-time evaluation price is higher, so the cost is simply moved to the front. Whether that is cheaper overall depends on how many evaluations you expect to buy before you pass — run both paths through our true-cost calculator before you decide.
Activation fee vs evaluation fee vs reset fee
These are three separate charges that are easy to confuse:
- Evaluation fee — what you pay upfront to start the challenge. This is the price that coupons like SAVENOW discount.
- Activation fee — the one-time charge in the table above, paid only after you pass, to go live. Evaluation coupons do not reduce it.
- Reset fee — not applicable on current Apex accounts. There are no resets, so a failed or expired evaluation means buying a new one.
Legacy Apex accounts: the old monthly activation fee
Accounts bought before Apex’s March 2026 overhaul used a different model — a monthly activation fee. Legacy Performance Accounts charged about $85/month on Rithmic or $105/month on Tradovate, with a one-time “lifetime” option. Those terms persist only for existing legacy holders; every account Apex sells today uses the one-time fee in the table above.

Is the Apex activation fee monthly or one-time?
On every account Apex sells today it is a single one-time payment, not a subscription — it does not renew and is non-refundable. Only legacy accounts bought before the March 2026 overhaul used a monthly activation fee (about $85/month on Rithmic or $105/month on Tradovate).
When do you pay the Apex activation fee?
You pay it when you activate your funded Performance Account, which must be done within 7 calendar days of passing your evaluation. The eval is marked passed after market close (about 6 PM ET); miss the 7-day window and the passed account expires permanently.
Can you avoid the Apex activation fee?
Yes. Apex sells a “No Activation Fee” variant of every evaluation that drops the activation fee to $0. The cost is front-loaded into a higher one-time evaluation price, so you pay more upfront and nothing at activation.
Does the SAVENOW coupon lower the Apex activation fee?
No. Coupons such as SAVENOW discount the upfront evaluation price only. The activation fee is a separate charge paid later, when you go live, and is not reduced by evaluation coupons.
