True Cost of Getting Funded: What 10 Prop Firms Charge Before You See a Payout

Last updated: 2 October 2026 What it costs to get a funded account at the 10 prop firms we track: list price, the code that’s live today, the activation fee you pay when you pass, reset prices and monthly billing. For the three firms that publish a pass rate counted per attempt, we also run the math those rates imply. Every price below links to the firm’s own page, with the exact wording.

The short version

Key findings · prices checked 1–2 October 2026

Topstep’s own pass rate implies about 6 Combines per pass. Topstep says 16.8% of Trading Combines started in 2025 were passed. One divided by 0.168 is 5.95. At the cheapest way to try again on the 50K Standard Path ($49 a month or $49 a reset), that’s about $292 in fees per passed Combine, plus the $149 activation fee: about $441. The sticker says $49.

Same math, three firms: roughly $440 to $840 per pass at list prices. Tradeify’s 17.2% works out to 5.8 evaluations per pass, about $843 at the $145 list price for Growth 50K (about $590 at the GEMS price). Take Profit Trader’s 36.22% is 2.8 tests per pass. If each one takes one $170 billing month, that’s about $469 plus the $130 activation fee, about $599. These are averages across all of each firm’s accounts, worked out from the firms’ own numbers. They aren’t a forecast for you.

Apex’s price is up to 92% off, and we still can’t tell you what it costs to get funded there. Apex Trader Funding’s 50K Intraday evaluation lists at $249 and is $19.92 with SAVENOW (7 October 2026). The activation fee you pay when you pass isn’t shown publicly (the site just says “Pay activation fee”), and the coupon page says codes “CANNOT be applied to resets or PA activation fees.”

Three of the six futures firms charge nothing to activate. MyFundedFutures, Tradeify and FundedNext Futures charge $0 to activate. Topstep charges $149 per funded account on its Standard Path, and Take Profit Trader charges $130 unless a promo waives it. Topstep’s No Activation Fee Path costs $95 a month instead of $49, so at its pass rate the “no fee” path costs more (about $565 vs $441).

A 100K forex account lists for anywhere from $249 to $549.99, and one firm can’t agree with itself. Goat Funded Trader lists $478 and takes it to $262.90 with GFT45. FundingPips is $466 before codes (its banner code FP takes 10% off for new users). FundedNext is $549.99. FTMO prices its 100K 2-Step at €540, currently shown at €439. The5ers’ own homepage shows both $249 in the plan table and “$100K For $149” in a banner.

“Cost if you pass first try” means the evaluation price plus any activation fee, assuming you pass in the first billing month with no reset. Very few people do. That’s what the next table is for. FTMO prices are in euros as shown on its page. We don’t convert currencies. A dash means the firm doesn’t publish the number.

What the published pass rates imply

Only three of the firms we track publish a pass rate counted per attempt (see the Pass-Rate Registry for every figure). If a firm says X% of attempts pass, then on average it took 1 ÷ X attempts for each pass. Multiply that by what one attempt costs and you get the fees paid for each pass across that firm’s customers. This is arithmetic on the firms’ own numbers, not a prediction: your odds depend on you, and the rates cover every account size, not just 50K.

Take Profit Trader36.22% of all Trading Tests, 20252.76$170 (one billing month, 50K at list) +$130 activation≈$599Firm page: “between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, 36.22% of all Trading Tests were successfully passed”

MyFundedFutures publishes 19.97% of “evaluation participants” with no period, which counts people rather than attempts, so it isn’t comparable and we leave it out. Topstep’s per-attempt cost uses $49 because a reset and a month both cost $49 on the 50K Standard Path. Take Profit Trader’s assumes one $170 billing month per test. With its $99 test reset instead, the figure would be lower. All pass rates are firm-reported and unaudited.

Methodology

On 2 October 2026 we fetched each firm’s pricing page, the checkout data embedded in its homepage, or its help-center article. The table quotes the exact text we read. Apex and FundingPips block automated requests (HTTP 403 and 429), so their prices come from our browser check of their sites on 1 October 2026, with screenshots on file. So do MyFundedFutures’ $209 list price, Take Profit Trader’s $170 monthly price and Goat’s $262.90 code price, which only appear once the page’s scripts run. We used one standard size per market: 50K for futures and 100K for forex. Each firm’s main evaluation is shown, and its main alternative is in the CSV.

We don’t estimate anything. If a firm doesn’t publish a number (Apex’s activation fee, most reset prices for forex firms), the cell says so. Promo prices are what the firm advertised on the day we checked. Codes expire, and some firms roll them over constantly. Prices exclude sales tax, data fees (Topstep charges $38 a month for Level 2) and anything you pay after you’re funded. Our True-Cost Calculator lets you plug in your own pass rate. Firm-by-firm detail is on each profile: FTMO, Topstep, Apex Trader Funding, FundedNext, The5ers, FundingPips, MyFundedFutures, Tradeify, Goat Funded Trader, Take Profit Trader. Common questions

How much does it really cost to get a funded prop firm account?

It depends on how many attempts you need. If you pass first try, a 50K futures account cost between $69.99 (FundedNext Flex with code) and $300 (Take Profit Trader at list, with activation) on 2 October 2026, among firms that publish every fee. Using the pass rates the firms publish themselves, fees per pass at list prices come to about $441 at Topstep, $599 at Take Profit Trader and $843 at Tradeify. That's averaged across each firm's customers, not a forecast for any one trader.

Which futures prop firms charge an activation fee?

On 2 October 2026: Topstep charges $149 per Express Funded Account on its Standard Path ($0 on the No Activation Fee Path). Take Profit Trader charges $130, waived with its NOFEE40 code. MyFundedFutures, Tradeify and FundedNext Futures charge none. Apex doesn't publish its activation fee amount.

How many attempts does it take to pass a prop firm evaluation?

Going by the firms' own numbers: Topstep reports 16.8% of 2025 Trading Combines were passed (about 6 attempts per pass), Tradeify 17.2% of evaluation accounts (about 5.8), and Take Profit Trader 36.22% of 2025 Trading Tests (about 2.8). The figures are firm-reported and unaudited.

Is Apex really 92% off?

Apex's SAVENOW code took the 50K Intraday evaluation from $249 to $19.92 (up to 92% off) when we checked on 7 October 2026, and the code is due to end on 13 October 2026. The discount doesn't apply to resets or PA activation fees, and Apex doesn't publish the activation fee amount on its public site.

Why is Topstep's No Activation Fee Path more expensive?

It costs $95 a month on 50K instead of $49, with no $149 fee when you pass. You come out ahead only if you pass within about three months. At Topstep's published 16.8% pass rate, the average is about 6 attempts per pass, so the Standard Path is cheaper on average.
