Last updated: 2 October 2026 Can you join a prop firm from the United States? For the 10 firms we track, yes, but often with conditions. We read each firm’s own eligibility, restricted-country and platform pages, and quote them below. This isn’t legal advice, and a firm’s page isn’t a regulator’s approval.
All 10 firms we track take US residents, but only 4 with no US limit on their pages. Topstep, Apex Trader Funding, Tradeify, MyFundedFutures: no US limit stated. That’s every futures firm we track except Take Profit Trader. The other six each come with a condition: a separate company, excluded states or territories, or a platform restriction.
For US forex traders, MetaTrader is mostly off the table. The5ers (“MetaQuotes are strictly prohibited from being used by residents of the United States”), FundedNext (Match-Trader only for CFDs), Goat Funded Trader (no MT5 or cTrader) and FundingPips (Match-Trader only) all limit US residents by platform.
FTMO serves the US through a different company and skips five states. US clients go to FTMO US at ftmo.oanda.com, which says it does “not currently accept entities from Arkansas, Delaware, Louisiana, Montana, or South Carolina”.
Two firms opened to US traders in 2025, a month apart. FTMO announced its OANDA partnership on 26 August 2025, and The5ers announced US access through cTrader on 18 September 2025. Both dates are from the firms’ own press releases.
The fine print reaches US territories too. Take Profit Trader’s restricted-countries list includes the Northern Mariana Islands, a US territory. FTMO US counts it as part of the United States.

“None stated” means the page we read gives no US-specific limit. It doesn’t mean there are none. Payment methods, ID checks and product rules can still apply.
Dated US changes
| Date | Firm | What changed | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025-08-26 | FTMO | FTMO and OANDA announced the partnership that opened FTMO to US residents | Press release |
| 2025-09-18 | The5ers | The5ers announced it was opening its funding programs to US traders, through cTrader | Press release |
We only list a change when the firm’s own announcement dates it. FundingPips’ return to US traders is covered in trade press, but we didn’t find a dated announcement of its own, so it isn’t listed. From this edition on, we’ll log changes as we see them.
Methodology
On 2 October 2026 we read each firm’s own help-center, terms or eligibility pages about countries and platforms, plus the firms’ own press releases for dates (The5ers’ was issued through PR Newswire). For pages that list restricted countries, we checked that the United States isn’t on the list. Every quote on this page was checked word for word against our saved copy, except Apex and Tradeify. Their sites block our automated fetches, so we read those two pages through a web reader the same day. Apex’s restricted-country list didn’t load for us, so its row rests on its US payout page.
“Takes US residents” means the firm’s own pages say it does, or don’t list the US as restricted. Whether a US state’s law allows this kind of product is a separate question that firms leave to the trader. See our regulator warnings page, our lawsuits tracker and our methodology. For costs and payout rules, see the True Cost Index, the Payout Friction Index and the Open Rules Dataset.
