Proposals that touch trading
Most 2026 SEC proposals deal with funds, advisers and company reporting. These are the ones we think matter more to people who trade, including futures traders, since several are joint with the CFTC.

How this fits with our CFTC tracker
The CFTC side, including its own crypto-asset market proposals, is on our CFTC rulemaking and comment-period tracker. The joint SEC-CFTC documents appear on both. For the end of the $25,000 day-trading minimum, which came through FINRA rather than an SEC proposal, see our FINRA intraday margin page. For trading-day timing, see the news trading calendar.

Method
We list every document the Federal Register files under Proposed Rule with the SEC as an agency, including joint SEC-CFTC requests, a concept release and one notice. Comment deadlines and file numbers are as printed in each notice.
Status compares the comment deadline with 17 October 2026. The “proposals that touch trading” list is our editorial selection, not an SEC category.
Caveats
The SEC can extend or reopen a comment period by later notice, and some deadlines run from Federal Register publication. Check the notice before relying on a date.
SEC proposals released but not yet printed in the Federal Register aren’t included.
A proposal is not a rule. Many change or never get adopted.
