37 Rule Changes After Traders Paid: How Often Prop Firms Rewrite the Terms

Last updated: 8 October 2026 PropDataLab has documented 37 dated rule, price and payout changes at the 10 firms we track since January 2023. Twenty-five of them fell in the 12 months to 1 October 2026, and 15 of those hit seven firms in July and August 2026 alone. Each change in our index has the firm’s exact before-and-after wording and, where one exists, an archived copy of the page.

Key findings · documented changes only

37 changes since 2023, 25 in the last 12 months, 15 in Jul–Aug 2026. Twenty-three are confirmed in Wayback Machine captures. The other 14 come from our own dated changelog and do not yet have an archive of the firm’s page.

Payout rules changed most (12 of 37), then prices and fees (7) and product discontinuations or restructures (6).

Topstep has the most archive-confirmed changes (10). Apex has 11 in total. FTMO has 0 in our record.

What counts as a change

Our Rule Change Index records a change only when we can date it and quote the firm. Promo-code churn is counted separately, because a banner going up and down is different from a drawdown rule changing. This is a floor, not a census. A change we have no capture of isn’t here. Our weekly changelog started in July 2026, so recent months are documented in more detail than earlier ones.

The July–August 2026 cluster

Fifteen changes at seven firms fell in those two months:

  • Goat Funded Trader raised the funded-stage minimum trading days per payout from 3 to 4 (25 Jul) and tightened the 1-Step daily drawdown from 4% to 3% (1 Aug).
  • Take Profit Trader cut its evaluation minimum from 5 trading days to 3 (17 Aug), added a Sustainable Trading Policy (6 Aug) and changed futures commissions from $5.00 to $4.50 per round trip while raising micros from $0.50 to $1.50 (26 Aug).
  • FundingPips reopened to US traders on Match-Trader only, discontinued its 1-Step model in favour of 1-Step Flex (6 Aug) and earlier removed the 10% profit-target option from 2-Step Standard (24 Jul).
  • MyFundedFutures ended monthly subscriptions and moved to one-time purchases with $0 activation (26 Aug).
  • Apex cut its 25K evaluation from $199 to $167 and reinstated Legacy Accounts for a limited time (6 Aug).
  • Tradeify raised the Select 50K reset fee from $99 to $109 (4 Aug).
  • FundedNext split Futures Rapid into Rapid Pro and Rapid Daily (26 Aug).

Topstep’s payout path, December 2024 to September 2026

Topstep alone changed its payout rules six times between December 2024 and April 2026: a $5,000 per-request cap; a move to Live after five payouts; a lower winning-day threshold ($200 to $150); Express winning days no longer counting toward the 30 days needed for daily payouts; a 90/10 split replacing “100% of the first $10,000” (existing traders kept the old split); and lower payout caps for new No Activation Fee accounts. On 14 September 2026 it raised the Combine consistency target from 50% to 55% and removed the hidden buffer. That last change is confirmed in archived help-centre wording.

What we are not saying

  • We do not score changes as better or worse for traders. A tighter drawdown and a lower price can land in the same month.
  • We do not say any change came without notice. In none of the 38 rows could we find a firm-stated announcement date that was clearly separate from the effective date, so a notice-period study is not possible yet.
  • Fourteen of the 37 rest only on our own changelog. Those are marked as such in the CSV.
